re CA body on my Echo1 m4a1 Empty
PostSubject: re CA body on my Echo1 m4a1   re CA body on my Echo1 m4a1 Icon_minitimeSun Mar 25, 2007 7:18 am

OK - here is my project -
I currently own an Echo1 m4a1 v1
Madbull V2 black Python 6.03 tightbore
DE (UTG) red dot scope (front lens got shot out during a game, but it still works...
3 hicaps,
3 9.6 1400 mah nimh's
1 8.4 1100 nimh

so far it has a red dot scope on it. (ignore the laser mounted on the hop up cover.... it didnt hold, but it did look cool while it lasted...)
re CA body on my Echo1 m4a1 Echo1

i recently got a CA metal(der) body. with a full metal RIS system.

now, to get the ris on, I had to swap the barrel over from the CA, as the front sights on the echo barrel are a little too close (not long enough to fit the RIS by about a half inch). and they are set in a grove, and cannot be moved w/out heavy mods to the barrel.

I am also working on replacing the body, but that will require a new CA hopup, and mag well internals, but it looks like the Charging handle and hop up cover door will switch over no prob. the Gearbox will be an easy drop in, and the motor should not cause a problem either.

when she is done, she will be a sexy beast... Smile
I will keep you guys posted - and Great site - i am glad someone created the Echo1 owners Group - !

Hooya!

ok got the lower receiver on, got the upper on, noted a few things that need modded, the bolt catch needs a little knob removed, and the charging handle is a bit diff. but, it can be mounted , yo just have to go CA style and release the hop up cover manually. the mag catch fits perfect.
I am ordering a NEW tm / ca full metal hopup unit w/ feed tube for $25 from evike along with the madbull fishbone hop up buckling $12 from evike.

most likely going with a 510mm tightbore and a suppressor (barrel extention)
as well.

here are some pics of the transfer and progress.

ignore my large feet. thats the echo1 gearbox in the CA body, no barrel or hop up yet, and the motor is still on my desk, but thats the Echo1 dust cover, note - on the other side, the trigger pin will need to be dremmeld of, as it doesnt go all the way in,(i am gonna work on that later, and i still need to move the charging handle over if i really want to, although at this point, its gonna be useless. and i still need to file down the knob on the bolt (again a useless item, just cosmetic.) but there it is, an Echo1 in a CA body.

Very nice, looking good. I'm looking to do more or less the same thing to my Mk12 mod 0 (A&K based), although I think I'm just going to replace everything (make it completely out of aftermarket parts) and use the A&K as a loaner gun. Finally got my M3 scope in, but can't pick it up until I get back home Sad As far as the scope goes, I vote you mount it on the carry handle, RDS looks much better that way.

Good to see more people dressing their Echo 1's up in full metal. I can't wait to see the finished product!

PostSubject: Re: re CA body on my Echo1 m4a1   re CA body on my Echo1 m4a1 Icon_minitimeTue Apr 03, 2007 7:58 pm

it has
CA m15a4 RIS body
echo1 retract. stock / buffer tube
echo1 m4 (2006) Gearbox w/ the m110 spring (stock)
madbull 363mm 6.04 black python v2 tightbore
G&P full metal hopup unit and bucking (the guarder 50% was way too loose)
Metal carry handle scope mount w/ DE red dot scope
UTG ergonomic vertical grip
JBU full metal suppressor
1 echo1 hicap
2 A&K hicaps
1 ICS hicap
3x 9.6v 1400 mah nimh batteries
and an Echo1 PEQ on backorder

total invested now is approx $400 between the orig gun, upgrades and accessories. not to mention the ammo.

future upgrades are to include new piston / head, bushings, spring guide, gearset and possibly reinforced box. - but I wont touch that till the nylon bushings go out and i chip a gear tooth or what not - I want to see the durability factor of the stock gun.

wow thats an old post. lol
since then.. this gun has undergone some severe changes..
basically.. its no more.
lol
i ended up using a GP zombie killer body. dropped in a systema gearbox, added a dboys casv, and an echo1 614 outter barrel with a kings arms hopup and madbull v2 tightbore.
used an ics turbo3000 and a dboys crane stock w/ battery for final touches.
